Our Family

We went to Chicago last week to visit my sweet sister in law and brother in law. Chuck is from Illinois so we got to see his home he grew up in and his old stomping grounds. It was nice. The weather was COLD and WARM. If it werent for the darn wind, you would stay warm. We went to the Field Museum, Shedd Aquarium, Lego Discovery, Sears Tower, Navy Pier, and did a little shopping. Chucks friend growing up now lives in the house Chuck grew up in, it was fun to see them and the house, they run a dairy farm, stinky, messy, but it was fun to see how it is ran. Jace got to milk a cow. We then went over to the pool and swam with his friend Alberts extended family. My sister in law is expecting and did not want to know the sex. Well she found out today that she is having a little girl. TOO CUTE!!! Needless to say I am very excited to buy cute headbands for this little miracle. I have not been to big on photos lately. We are kind of boring people, between the two of us working, it seems like we have the same routine all the time. Well we do. Chuck has Sundays and Mondays off, Sundays are his days to sleep in, catch up on things around the house and then he goes down to my parents to have dinner, play games and bring Jace home. Mondays are for him to ski with his dad, and then we have dinner at his parents or just have family night together. Mondays Jace has to do ALL of his homework for the week, sometimes mom is nice and we finish on Tuesday. Tuesdays are moms day to catch up on missed sleep and run errands. Wednesdays, oh my! Mom cleans, What day dont I clean! I think I am coming more like my mom and grandma the older I get, I am a huge bit OCD. At 2:00 I go help with art class and do the teachers copying for the week. There usually is not a week we dont help out with a party or a treat or this and that the teacher needs brought in to the class. I am glad to help!!! Right after school we head to the valley, run some errands, grab some dinner just my BOO and I, and then we have karate from 5:30-8:15, then home. Thursdays, are the boys night. This is moms Monday, so the boys do boy things and hang while mom works. Friday gets Boo ready for school dad takes him to school and mom dies until 12:15 when she gets Boo from school and takes him to Grandma. Jace has gone to Gma and Gpa Bergs house every weekend since the divorce and we lived with them. HE LOVES IT THERE, who wouldnt the only grandchild and all. Then mom catches some more zzz's and goes to work. Jace has scouts every Friday at 3:30, then karate team practice from 5:30-8:00. Saturday he has karate private lessons at 10:30. Mom works every Thursday- SUnday night. We dont have much family time together, but the time we do have together we make the best of. We are getting ready to go see Chuck's brother and his wife in Chicago for a few days. Yeah!!! We need a break from life, and are SO happy Spring is on the way. We actually played outside today. You can kind of see the grass in the backyard. There is hope!!! Jace has a ton of karate tournaments coming up, several bday parties planned for himself, the school Spelling Bee. Yeah for mom she said she would help out with it this year, and next year she is the chairman. Needless to say I did not know the detail involved. Jace is at such a fun age, When are they not?. We had the Science Fair last week, he made a battery out of lemons. He and Chuck made a Leprechan trap for school tomorrow, too cute!!! I cannot wait for Summer and my days will available to just spend with my boys. Jace and I can swim and hike and do whatever we want. I have been working really hard at getting my lazy pounds I have gained over the past few years off. I love going to the gym, I used to make fun of my mom for always talking about what she ate and not wanting fatty foods. HELLO KAREN JR.!!! It is fun to see the pounds come off and I SO need it. Monkey

So I had to change our background. I could not resist. Jace for some reason is now sometimes called monkey. What do you expect, he is almost nine, HOLY CRAP!!! Almost nine!?!?!?! He monkeys around the house with the dog, and makes monkey noises or screaches when we put him to bed, so we have started to call him a monkey. The dog Ozzy is also called a monkey since he now has to share a banana with mom and Jace on a daily basis. Yes the dog eats bananas.

Scout of the month

Jace was the scout of the month this month. They announced it at the Blue and Gold Banquet. He was SO surprised. They served dinner and he HAD to sit by his friends instead of mom and dad, and the other photo is of he and I up getting his awards, and arrow points. Jace tried out for the All Star karate team, and made it again this year. So we weill be busy with tournaments again. We should be used to it. He came home the other day with his IOWA test results, I didnt understand them, well I guess enough to know he did well. Well, a few weeks later he came home with a signed certificate from the UT Education board for being in the top 10% nationally in 5 of the 6 categories the kids were tested in. WHERE DOES HE GET IT???

I have come to the conclusion that we are VERY boring people, or that our work schedules drain us. I worked graves over Christmas and New Years, and they wear me right out. On Christmas Eve, we had Chucks parents over for dinner, opened presents and then went up to the cabin for the night. We got up early and opened gifts, (Jace once again hit the jackpot from Santa), we played games and ate an AWESOME dinner, then headed down the canyon in a HUGE storm so I could get to work. Jace has spent almost all of his Holiday break with my parents. His friends up here have been out of town, and home in the valley or even up at the cabin with him. He has snowmobiled, and ice fished with his buddy Grandpa. Thanks mom and dad!!! New years Eve, we just hung out around the house, Chuck made it until 11:40 and woke me up to tell me Happy New Years early. See, we are boring!!!

I have to add this. I was talking on the phone to Jace last night, he was at my parents, they were sitting by him, and Chuck was sitting by me. Jace was telling me about his Webkins baby he got from Peyton for Christmas. "Mom it's a Saint Barnyard!" He was reading from the tag, all the adults started laughing. He meant St. Bernard. Kids, how can you not love them?

Berg Christmas Party

December 6, 2008 This year was a different party than usual. I was excited to go, because my dads sister Susan has been terminally ill for several years with cancer, and we knew this would be her last year with us. Well unfortunately Susan past away the night before the party. We are thankful for the time she had with us and are happy she is no longer suffering. She was a very strong lady and an inspiration to many. We love and miss you Susan!

We have had an overload of babies on the Berg side this year, well both sides of my family this year, four and one on the way. Two are Tyler and Jills and we are SO thankful they have finally been blessed with such beautiful babies. Note, in the pictures to follow, that baby Jesus changes, yes, Jackson was first, and then Roe. TOO CUTE! Jace was a wisemen, he loves to be in the nativity.

My heart was very heavy this morning when I was able to be a gift wrapper for Shop with a cop. How lucky I am to be able to give my child all he needs. It makes me feel very grateful when I am able to do things like this, the Angel Tree and to give to PCMC in memory of Ryan at Christmas time. I am thankful that I can teach Jace how to help others as well. I think he enjoys it as much as I do.

We went to the cabin for Thanksgiving. This is the only picture I took, though we did have fun, Jace fished, we played games, watched movies, and rode the four wheelers. I had to take this picture, my dad and Chuck were moving the armior from the master to the upstairs family room, and this was the easiest way to push it into the space. MEN!!!

Jace just got home from Florida with my parents last night. I have worked graves this week so I have not seen him. I am going to jump in his bed and take a ciesta with him before school in the morning. They had SO much fun in Florida, I honestly thought he may ask to live with my friend Tammy that lives down there. They went to Epcot, Disney World, Sea World, Hollywood Studios, the Animal Kingdom, and they saw the Endeavor launch into space. He even went on a roller coaster that "goes upside down" he went four times.
I went to the neurologist last week, he wanted a new MRI, and no more chocolate or caffiene, or ibubrofen for me, EVER!!! I have too much crap going on in my head, it increases my chances of stroke or an anurism. Hey it will be good for the weight. The MRI results came back, I have a tumor. Oh yeah, I have had it for a while now. Sorry that was notfunny. The tumor has not grown, YES!, the nerves at the base of my skull are inflamed, so hopefully the new meds will help with that, if not we try another set of meds, so far so good. I also went to my orthopedic surgeon this week. I am "Sexy boot" free. I still limp a bit , but I am getting into my shoes, slowly. I have to do PT for a few months just once a week.

So I have not blogged, FOREVER!!! Sorry Tam. We have been busy, in a weird way around our house. This Summer, well, was there a Summer? I am not the only one that feels Summer FLEW by. I have a few pics from this Summer, boating at the cabin, fishing, we went and tried to be patient enough to stand in line to see the Declaration of Independence. We took some far away pics instead. Jace had a fun Summer I hope, you can travel a child anywhere in the world, and he talks most about MOAB, UT.. WOW!!! Jace leaves on Saturday to go to Florida with my parents for a week. Needless to say, I will miss him dearly and I am VERY JEALOUS, but, I am also very thankful that my parents are taking him. We are so blessed! I had a Gastroc Recession on both of my legs October 2.. DONT DO IT!!! This involves the cutting of your calf muscle, tendons and ligaments. OUCH!!! Holy Cow! It has been almost five weeks now, and I am still in sexy walking boots and cant walk very well. The doc says it already looks more impressive than before. Let's hope. My mom and Chuck are incredible, my mom came and cleaned, took Jace, worked in my yard. And Chuck, well. I love my husband SO much. He was so attentive to both Jace and my needs. Luv u babe! Well I am being lazy on the bloggin and have a ton of pics to download. I was dumb on Halloween and only have a back shot of my darling Indiana Jones, I am surprised he did not wear the outfit out by Halloween. He loved it.

I have to take a minute to talk about life. After losing a beautiful son to a terminal illness in 1995, I thought I new what life was about. Not nearly! As you all know I started a job as a 911 Dispatcher in June. I love it. It is overwhelming, stressful, joyful and very rewarding. I have learned that life is so precious. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, talk often to your family, tell them every chance you get how much they mean to you, and say I LOVE YOU often. Wear your seat belt every single time you go anywhere, even taking the kiddos to school or going to church. Life can be taken and changed SO quickly. I love you all and appreciate all of you and the sunshine you bring to my life. Enjoy the photos, all that there are. Some are of my Father in laws 70th, Birthday in September, we had all of the brothers out, aunts, uncles and friends, it was so good to see everyone.

Third Anniversary - Family trip to Moab

We went and baked in Moab for the weekend. Though it was hot, (I can honestly say I have been to HELL), it was SO fun. We did some long hikes, river rafting and 4 wheeling. (That was Chucks favorite part). I think sometimes you need to just get away for a few days and take trips like that to realize how blessed you are to have the family you have and the beautiful world we live in.

Jace and I went up to Lily Lake in the Unitahs this morning. My reel would not stay on and we could not get his to cast out more than about 10 feet. Oh well... we had fun spending time together, and the scenery was unbelievable. Jace says we need one of the Grandpas to help us. I have to agree.

Here are some pictures from Cub Country up Millcreek Canyon. SO PRETTY!!! The boys fished, did archery, shot bb guns, learned first aid, paddled the boats ( one mom lost control of her paddle and got the WHOLE troop soaked, I dont know who she would be), and swam.

New Job!!!

Well after a two month lay off, I have finally found an awesome job. I will be a Summit County dispatcher. I will dispatch for fire, police, medical, search and rescue, animal control, and fish and game. I am SO excited. It will be nice to have a fun job, with security, and working 12 hour shifts, so I can have 3.5 days off during the week to play with my family. Thanks for all of you thoughts and prayers.

Summer Games 2008

Right after school on Friday, we headed to Cedar City with Grandma and Nanny, for the Summer Games. We went to see Kung Fu Panda, SO CUTE! Jace did great at the games, he brought home a silver and a bronze, and no injuries this time.

Wow! They grow up too fast. Jace had an AWESOME time in school this year. His teacher was SO fun. It was an emotional day. Jace asked if we could move next to Mr. Call, I told him he would put up a NO TRESPASSING JACE, sign the first day. Mr. Call said that was stalking. Park Record Spelling Bee

Jace was in the Park Record Spelling Bee, May 16th, 2008. This was between the 2nd and 3rd graders in the district. Fifteen kids in all, Jace was the last second grader, and last kid left from his school. He fgot out on obligations, he spelled it abligations. We are SO proud of him.

May 7, 2008. My new glasses. It took me longer to pick out the color of case I wanted, than it did the glasses, and the red eye even came free. May 8, mom was taking me to school and the only one that know's about my glasses is Mr. Call my teacher. I said " no one will recognize me, I will have to slide my glasses to the bottom of my nose so they can see my eyes." Then, we are getting a new kid in class today from Japan. I told mom "he must be exhausted." I thought he was coming fresh from the airport to school. From the mouths of babes. Gotta luv' em!

After the baptism we went back to Grandma and Grandpa Berg's house for dinner, we had SO much food. Snadwiches, salads, cookies, and brownies. We had great grandmas, grandmas and grandpas, aunts, uncles, and friends come. Jace's karate teacher hanshi and his school techer MR. Call even came. VERY nice of them.

Japanese Festival
